You don't need to be an expert to play FF...

There are many people—especially women---that do not participate in fantasy football for few reasons. Many of them think that fantasy football is hard and some others think that it takes too much work. But what they don't know is that fantasy football is a very easy game to play and at the same time people can have fun with friends and family. Also, since fantasy football is getting popular there are many sports sites, TV shows and online shows that transmit helpful information to fans. Therefore, fantasy football is not as hard as people think it is.

Fantasy football is a fun game to play and a good opportunity to socialize with people. Therefore this game has become very popular. According to Colin Cowherd of ESPN:
“more than 27 million players play fantasy football. They spend an average of nine hours a week (during football season… playing fantasy football).”

Leagues are hosted online through Yahoo, ESPN and some other sports sites. In these sites people can find different types of leagues from very expensive and competitive to cheap or completely free. Furthermore, throughout the season owners are in charge of setting weekly lineups, proposing, accepting and rejecting trades, competing against other teams in the league, check for updates and news, and the hardest one, watch most of the football games on Sunday and Monday.

Here comes the easy part, before the season starts, fantasy football news experts give helpful information to fantasy football owners. They also looked at the last season most popular players to help fantasy owners decide on their future teams. Moreover, there are many ways owners can obtain helpful information and updates that will help them make good decisions on choosing the right players. For instance, ESPN offers weekly analysis on the SportCenter television show, feature articles in ESPN fantasy football magazine, online shows, and columns throughout the season.

In addition, the website does the entire math, add up scores, create schedules, manage the league draft and allow owners to interact on messages boards. What else could you ask for?

Overall, there are many sources that can help you survive throughout the season such as ESPN and Yahoo. Furthermore, it might seem hard and a lot of dedication to participate but when you are actually playing, you enjoy more watching football games on weekends. Therefore, fantasy football game is an easy game to participate and have fun with friends and family as well.

Fantasy football is easy to play. I’ve been playing for four years and the first three years I never watched any football. I would set my lineup to whoever the professionals would say they would put in. The leagues do all the math and make everything pretty basic. With that said, I would have to say being good at playing is a little harder. Sure the professionals will say, who the best is based on yardage and touchdowns, but what it leaves out is the drama with the player. Maybe he’s injury prone, has off the field problems, has another player on the team that is the go to guy. Knowing the players and teams makes a big difference when you’re trying to be competitive in these leagues.

This is an interesting post. I am one of those women: probably too bothered to get involved in FF, but I am becoming more intrigued by it and might try it next year.

I can't tell: is the Cowherd quote from Wikipedia? Why use Wikipedia? I'd suggest sticking with more offical (ESPN, NFL.com, etc.) sources than Wikipedia. Only source when you can tag it out and specifially say that this was written by this entity (a corporation) or a person.

You are absolutely correct. Fantasy football is everywhere, to include my place of employment.

People have extended me the invite to join in, however; there are several reasons I haven't joined. One reason is because they play for money. Not a huge sum of money but you do have to pay in to play. Second, I'm going to school, work and have 2 children, so my busy schedule doesn't really allow me much time to watch TV, login the computer and keep track. Don't get me wrong the thought sounds like fun but I'd much rather watch my "Law and Order" show when I do have time for TV.

I'm happy to have read your blog about fantasy football. Not sure if I'll ever take part in it but the information you provided gives me more of a clue about the whole hype of this game.

Does the owner have to invite you to play or do you just join? Is there an award for the overall best score from ESPN or any other source?

hello Banda,
I also thought that people just played for money but I was wrong. There are some leagues that you can play just for fun and do not have to spend a penny.
Moreover, the owners are the people that select football players to create a team and there are about 14-16 owners in a league. There are many ways an owner can join a league like getting together with a group of friends, co-workers, school friends, etc. Unfortunately, there isn’t an award from ESPN, Yahoo, or other sport websites. But if you played for money then you get all the money.
